I'm sure that if you asked Bill Gates VERY nicely, you could do it on
a limited basis.

Do you mean the names which show up in shortcuts? If so, then you can
rename them to anything you wish. Doesn't the name need to fit inside the
icon?
If so, then there may be a way to enlarge the icon.
