i have 2 pcs connected via a netgear hub, working fine and
cables ok, but i can't get more than 10mbps out of one of
them when the other works fine at 100mbps. i'm not a
network expert - i just get by. any help on this matter
would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Sounds like your network card in that PC only supports 10MBPS. Get a new
10/100 MBPS network card.

3 things I would suggest checking (these are not all the
possibilities, but my first impulse):

1. Verify the slower connection machine has a 10/100 mbps
network card.

2. Verify the drivers for the card are current. Outdated
drivers can generate assorted problems.

3. If both of the above are correct, make sure the card is
configured for 10/100 or straight 100 mbps mode. Some
(usually older) cards may have jumpers or dip switches to
set their speed or disable negotiation of connection
speed. Some onboard network cards can be set to 10 mbps
only mode in the systems CMOS Setup.
