One Front-end with Multiple backends (same table names)

There is an application with a front-end (designed with VB) but based on an
Access database Backend. The application allows different Users to select a
copy of their own Backend database to use with the Frontend. The names of the
tables etc in the various copies of the Backend databases are the same i.e.
only the name of the Backend databases are different, but the objects in the
databases are named the same.

Anyway, I am not good in VB but I want to replicate the same thing using
Access to design a Frontend Switchboard that will allow the User to select a
copy of the Backend database to use.

I know that Access allows you to split my database but that will only allow
a many copies of the Frontend to a Single copy of the Backend. What I want to
do is create a Many copies of the Frontend and allow a Single copy of the
Backend but allow different names of the backend. This is similar to what I
will get with a database splitter but I don't think I can give the Backend
copies different names.

Any ideas would be very helpful.
