one font prints garbage on one printer

On Vista Ultimate, printing to one printer (HP LaserJet 2100), one font
prints garbage. Other fonts print just fine to the printer. The troublesome
font prints fine on another printer (Xerox 440 copier/network printer). How
can I fix this?
Thank you.

From the same PC to another printer (HP CLJ 4700), it prints garbage.
To make things more confusing, from another computer (Vista Business), the
troublesome font prints fine to the 4700, but garbage to the 2100.

So, one computer can print fine some times, but not always.
And one printer can print fine some times, but not always.

Here is what I am trying to print:
"This is Tiffany Hv BT."

This is sort of what gets printed in one case:
"Fr om om Fol T-D ev : Fh"

I hope someone can make sense of this because it is starting to cause my
head to spin.

I see the Xerox uses PostScript drivers. The HP LJ 2100 can use a variety of
PCL or PS drivers. Verify that both printer are using comparable drivers
(both PostScript, same level, for example) and check the font substitution
settings in the printer driver settings dialogues.
