On Disabling The PNP Write Filter Switches off ???

Kesavan

Help pls,

This is a irregular enhancement problem Im facing.

Let me divide this into two tasks of Queries
1)How do we disable the Plug and Play Services from the Services
Window.
- However this has been done by our client and we have just got the
updates regarding it.I checked up the Services window from the
Administrative tasks but unable to STOP the PLUG and PLAY Service.

2)Nextly once the Plug and Play Service is STOPPED the Write Filter
also gets OFF.It is the mandatory need of our client that they need to
STOP the Plug and Play service at required moment. But the Write Filter
also gets off.Could a suitable work around be provided for this?

My understanding :- The resources should be shared in common for Plug
and Play service and Write Filter .Im working on it.If they are
sharing the same registry entries then it shouldnt be a bug however to
enhance CAN WE HAVE A SUBSTITUTE REGISTRY entry(instead of the shared
one) that is suitable for Write but not for Plug and Play .

now how can we stop the plug and play while have the write filter
ON.It would be helpful if anyone can ponder over this to help me out
of this .

Hi, Kesavan!
i hope im reaching the inboxs of all xpe professionals .
Please, continue to hope.

About your question - well, AFAIK a new device _could_ require changes
in the windows\inf folder (generates PNF files, and cache) and it
definitely requires some new keys in the registry. So, I guess you have
to switch off EWF before any hardware changes - to keep them persistent.
