Older Programs Not Working & Dual Boot As a Remedy

S

Shel

I am having problems with older programs working in Microsoft XP.
These programs work very well in Windows 98. I have tried XP's
capability to tailor itself to older operating systems. I have
reloaded the programs. Nothing works. I get either 'out of memory'
or'runtime error 380' messages, or just plain nonresponsiveness with
some programs.
1) Any suggestions?

2) I am thinking of setting up a dual boot system using XP and
Windows 98 SE in which I would load these older or troublesome
programs under Windows 98 SE. Does anyone have any experience with
such a dual boot system using this operating system pair? Does it
have problems?

As long as you use separate partitions for Win98 and WinXP and install
Win98 first you should not experience any difficulties. If you want to
access WinXP from Win98 then use FAT32 for both. I have found that you can
sometimes repair
XP from 98 and so for me FAT32 is the best configuration.
