Old vestiges of AVG software

I recently saw fit to purchase a fairly expensive version of AVG. Initially I
had AVG installed but ran into some conflicts with other software and wasn't
sure of the problem so I just started deleting everything trying to start
from scratch. As u must know that didn't work. I was left with Avg telling
me it cannot initialize and that the application can't run; and then my
computer would recognize my other anti-virus software and continue on. The
problem now is that My xp sp2 will not run the newer version of avg. IT's
like installed but not functioning. Anyone got any ideas. I'm in touch with
the company but who knows how long that process is going to take. Thanks for
taking the time to read this and giving it some thought.

Not sure what you mean by this - did you use the proper uninstaller, or
delete files manually in Explorer? If the latter, you need to fully reinstall
the original program, then use the proper uninstaller.

How many antivirus applications do you have on your machine? And what are
they?

I now have Avast free edition, before that it was AVG. ANd before that it was
Ca 1 year free. That is not to overlook the fact that I did install the newer
version of AVG. And was told by the installer/messenger that installation was
successfull.
Also, in answering the post before yours I initially used the program
removal of the control panel. When that didn't work I searched through the
files deleting all AVG references. ANd when that didn't work I went through
some of the registry. There was no uninstall. The program came form a shop.

Got some help from the company. They sent me a zip file to use for uninstall
and reinstall purposes. The program actually had to be installed twice while
the registry was modified and brought up to date. Thanks all for the help.--
