Old programs conflict

I recently installed XP over ME. I kept all the programs and files I used on
ME, but now many of them will not run and I can't re-install them without
re-installing ME.

Is there any way for me to make my old programs useable in XP? For instance,
I have a CD-RW drive, but without the burning program working, it's useless.

Any ideas? Am I better off by just uninstalling XP? If so, how do I
uninstall XP and restore my computer to the way it was prior to the XP
installation?

You have to see if your old programs are compatible with xp. Its because alot
of the time they don't meet the ntfs requirements.

Sorry but little help for you

PS you could do a dual boot

It would help to have a little more detail. Any error messages, etc. I
have not had a bit of problem running older programs. Sometime you need to
run them in Compatibility Mode. Something is wrong and you will get help
here. Windows ME was probably the worst OS ever while XP is the best I have
ever run so let's get you up and running on XP before you give up and go
back to ME.

So you failed to follow the advice given by Microsoft and went ahead full
steam, without running the compatibility checker.

List all the applications that fail to work properly.

I can bet that you have Adaptec Easy CD creator or Ahead Nero of an older
version: neither of which makes the grade for XP.

Many of the older Norton System Works applications will not run under XP.

All the older Microsoft application will work and are compatible.

If it's simply data CDs you are burning then you can use the in-built CD
writing application of XP. Just 'drag and drop' the file onto the CD drive
folder and then you can review before going ahead with the burning process.

There are updates to most applications available, some will incur a small
fee, however the use of XP is well worth this small problem.

Please explain "dual boot" and how I set it up.
