Is there any way to move a collection of e-mail from Outlook to other
folders to save it without opening each and then saving each in the new
file? I have a very large number of e-mails for specific cases that I'd
like to move out of OL but I can't merely delete them. I have to keep them
for archiving purposes.

Archive, move to a different pst-file or drag &drop them out of Outlook into
an Explorer folder to save them as msg-files.

Thanks. This would work except for a simple but critical problem. Lots of
the separate messages in OL that would be dragged to a particular folder
(e.g., allthe e-mail between a client and me about a certain case or
negotiation) are seen by Windows as duplicates, perhaps because the Subject
is the same. That is, I can drag the first message to another folder just
fine. But when I drag a second but different message with the same subject
to that folder I am asked if I want to replace the one I just dragged. If I
have to rename them to keep them separate I am back to where I started,
namely trying to see if there is a way to move or save a collection of
related e-mails to a separate folder. (Actually viewing them in OL--i.e.,
with the OL e-mail display--would be a lot easier if ever I have to review
the archived e-mails, but the first step is archiving them.)

Indeed, the file name is a big problem when using drag & drop. The file
date/time as well: When you drag & drop the email, they get the
date/time stamp of today. And when you open them tomorrow, the
date/time stamp will be updated...
I know this problems, because i was used to do it that way.

I found the sollution for all this, I now use mailtofile for archiving
my email to msg files. Check www.mailtofile.com/en/.
Have a nice day.

This software seems like exactly what I was looking for. I wonder if there
are others.

This software sounds like it's worth a try. I will have to run it by our IT
people. They get really steamed when people start installing their own
software on the network. (Since they are always bugging us about having too
much mostly old e-mail piled up you'd think they would relish something like
this to facilitate archiving stuff offf the network.)

Then I have to ask, why are your users running as admins and local admins? Running as user would solve any number of problems, including drive-by installations, users installing unapproved software, etc.
