Deleting mail on the server

I have OL 2003 set to delete mail on the server after it is deleted from the
OL Deleted Items folder. But this seems to work only partially. For
example, I have only 3 very recent e-mails from one of my friends still in
OL but there are close to a dozen from him on my server (Comcast),
consisting of the 3 still in OL and 7-8 which had I deleted in OL. Of
course, I empty the Deleted Items folder regularly, typically daily, since I
have to close out of OL to switch to a different OL profile. Obviously the
good news is that somehow OL is getting MOST of the deleted items off the
server (this friend usually sends me at least a dozen e-mails a week, so OL
has obviously gotten rid of a huge number.) But what about those last
few??? Is there a time delay? From OL? From the server?

FWIW when I get rid of e-mail on my BlackBerry I click (or whatever you call
it when you push that little ball) to delete the items on the server, too.

The only delay is a send/receive interval; that is when they get purged from
the server. If the send/receive interval somehow got disturbed, it could be
that they won't be deleted anymore and you'll have to do it manually.

One of the most common reasons for a send/receive interval to fail is by
having a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook. Disable/uninstall this
integration of your virus scanner and see if it behaves better now.
