OL98 - Archiving Calendar does not delete archived entries

Using Outlook 98, I archived the contents of my calendar from 1/1/2000
through a date last fall. The archiving seems to have worked fine,
and when I open the archive PST file, the entries for that period are
there. However, the entries are also still in my Outlook calendar.

Is that the way it is supposed to work? (With other folders,
archiving entries delete them from the current Outlook calendar.) If
so, is there a convenient way for me to delete those entries from the
Outlook.pst file?

Also, if I can so delete them, will I lose from my current calendar
recurring events that had their origin in the archived period?

I noticed a typo in my original posting which I am correcting here.

The second sentence of the second paragraph should have read:

" (With other folders, archiving entries delete them from the current
Outlook FOLDERS.)"

Recurring items aren't archived until after the recurrence period ends, if
I'm not mistaken.
