OL2002 crashes accessing SMTP/POP server

My OL2002 / WinXP setup started to crash when accessing SMTP/POP server.

It performs "Test Account Settings" send/receive successfully, but when I reactivate timed send/receive, or force a send/receive, OL & WinXP immediately crashes and reboots.

I have performed both OfficeXP Repair, and also ScanPST repair: No help.

Any idea what to try next, short of entire Office / Outlook reload?
