OL 2003 Built-in Junk Filter

Tom Stepanski

I upgraded from OL 2002. The junk filter works fine but I
have a few rules to move emails sent through specific
accounts to their folders. When I get junk email it first
goes into the junk filter then to their specific folder.
I have tried running the "Move" rule first, middle and
last.
Is there a way to turn Off the rules for the Junk E-mail
folder in OL2003? I check three accounts simultaneously
so the built-in junk filter is catching about 97% of the
spam in my "Main" Inbox but in the other two account
folders I am getting 100% of the spam.
While downloading email I can see the email hitting that
Junk E-mail folder first and then it gets moved by the
rules. I have upgraded the rules thinking this might help
but it did not.
Thanks for any help,

Yes, other people (including myself) have the problem, and there doesn't
seem to be a solution to it... very frustrating... :(

Well I am grateful that OL2003 is at least catching 33%
of my spam. If you ever find a solution please let me
know at (e-mail address removed).

If we keep posting this problem maybe MS will come up
with a fix. Have you reported this problem using
the "Customer Feedback Options" under "Help" on
the "File" menu? I already sent it in through that
channel. Maybe if a lot of folks send them this problem
they might come up with a solution faster.

Thank you,

All messages sent through account B go into a B email
folder and the same with account C. Account A stays in
the Inbox.

I can uncheck the rules that moves mail account A and B
messages to their respective folders and the Junk Email
filter that is built into OL2003 will catch and hold
those spam emails. But that would defeat the purpose of
checking multiple accounts. I only have a total of 8
rules running. 5 to move emial to different folders and 3
to try to catch spam.

Are you moving all mail from acct b to a folder and all mail from acct c to
a folder? Do the filters work if you disable the rules moving messages?

I have noticed that Outlook only applies the junk mail filter after all
of my rules have been applied and I like it that way but I can see how
this would be frustrating for your situation.

Perhaps they could add another action to the list of actions available
for the rules. That action would be 'Apply Junk Mail Rule'. Then you
could apply it to rules you create.
