Oki 3200 toner cardridge reset

Hi !

Few months ago i've bought new Oki 3200 color laser printer. It is simple model
without any LCD and network adapter. Yesterday i've got toner error: blinkinkg
power and toner leds. It appeared suddenly in the middle of printing job so i
think that this is caused by starter toner limit counter. It simply reached zero
and switched printer to 'buy new cartridges' mode :)

All new toner cartridges are as expensive as new printer:( I've found cheap
photo-toner from 2-nd party supplier and i want to use it. But first i must know
how to reset printer counters.

I've read that there is micro fuse in each toner unit and it blows up when new
cartridge is fitted into the printer. But i didn't saw any fuses or electrical
connectors when inspecting my 'starter' cartridges.

So i have question:
Is it possible to resupply starter cartridge and reset all neccessary
counters ? If it is needed i can do some soldering work and attach 50 mA fuse
somethere... but i need to know where :)

Another question - where can i download any diagnostic software for my printer?
Unfortunelly i've lost original CD with drivers and utilities :( www.okidata.com
also didn't offer any diag tools - only printing spoller software.

Big thanks for help.

It is quite apparent that you purchased a printer that you cannot afford
to use. Maybe you should return it to the store and get one that you
can afford. If that is not possible maybe you should be more
conservative in what you print.

Many cheap printers have such marketing policies - sell it for low price, but
force user to buy expensive consumables.

As a printer it is ok and i don't want to return it. But i need to lower mt
costs - so information how to unlock cartridges would be very helpfull.

www.Provantage.com have good toner carts by Media Science. New carts not
reman, Cheap and they will reset printer, Good results and no refill mess or
problems.

There are no fuses in the toner cartridges for this printer.
The fuses are in the Drum unit, the Belt unit and the Fuser.
The toner cartridge uses a different form of reset using a white shutter. When
you buy a compatible or remanufactured toner cartridge they should come with
the shutter correctly aligned to reset the toner count.

So there must be one or more photocell which determines that new cartridge has
been placed. Do you know how to workaround them using starter cartridges ?

The starter cartridges cannot be refilled. You will need to buy a set of new
or compatible cartridges if you want to use refilled (remanufactured)
cartridges. The up side to this is that replacing them with new or refilled
cartridges will increase the yield by double if not more. I believe there
may be cartridge world shops in Poland, if there is they can remanufacture
these cartridges (not the starter ones) or supply you with replacements.

See the post from Stick, that is exactly correct. You cannot reuse the starter
cartridges. The full capacity cartridges are the ones with the white cam that
can be adjusted to reset the printers count.

Of course i can buy new cartridges and there are many sellers in Poland. ut they are very
expensive - cost as much as new printer :)

Maybe do you know what is the difference between starter and normal cartridge?
I hope i can make some 'improvement' of starter one to act as normal one ?

And it is apparent you are full of crap.
