OK, where do I go to get help?

OK, I obviously have a glitch that no one can resolve. So, where do I go
for help?

Dear Kathleen:

I have written several times to the group and it is documented over the last
week or so.

At this time, I have completely redone my web page and eliminated the error.
But I do not know how.

There are also several folks who asked the same question over the last three
weeks and I have never seen a response.

See my messages dated 3-2-06 and 2-26-06.

Thanks anyway.

Then you should go back to your original thread on 2/26 and re-read and
follow the advice given.

Basically;

1- You're on a linux server, rename all files/folder with spaces in the
names (they will appear as %20) - then Recalculate Hyperlinks and
Re-Publish. While you are at it; it's also a good idea not to use
capitalizaton in file names either. This appears to still be a problem on
your site.

There were other valid suggestions as well.

If you keep posting new threads on the same subject without reading the
answers to the previous threads, then yes, it might take a while to get an
answer.

It would help us to help you if you could please tell us what the actual
problem is.....

Here is what I had written earlier:

I have set up my FrontPage 2003 site with Shared Borders.
I added a link bar in the Shared Border.
When published, the link bar works, but the button images do not show up
correctly.

I have researched the help articles online which indicate that link bars in
Shared Borders may not render properly. But no solution is offered.

I have taken Ron's advice and used the space remover offered by
JIMCOSOFTWARE and recalculated my hyperlinks.

I have reworked the construction in Navigation view, essentially inputing my
web site again.

And the link bar still does not render properly.

------------------

I had run through a thread like this, got lots of suggestions which I
completely followed and my error persisted. So, I asked the question again
when no one was offering anything new to the first thread. And got no
answer at all. So, I asked it a third time and got a lot of folks telling
me I should do what the first thread indicated.

OK, so I am sorry that I asked the question more than once. I have never
used a newsgroup before. The fact is, my error still persists if I use
Shared Borders and follow all the advise that folks have given me.

As I stated, I have now completely redone my web site WITHOUT shared borders
and it all works fine. But the problem STILL persists. There is also
another fellow asking the same question and he has not gotten a solution
either.

Thanks for your patience. I have worked a lot on this problem and I have
learned a lot about the program. But it is not infallable!

Dear Ron:

The site is www.GraceBayTownhomes.com. But as I said, this site no longer
has a problem. I am not using shared borders anymore because I could not
get them to work.

Thanks anyway. I do not want to cause problems!

Thanks Rob:

I used that program from JimCoSoftware that Ron Symonds led me to....I guess
it did not work. I will try again manually.

Thanks.

Do NOT use PT sizes in styles for the web - they are for PRINT only. Use
percent, ems, or px. ems are preferred usually. Also, provide an alternative
font, like "Times New Roman", serif;

You have a BUNCH of inline styles - you should probably make a stylesheet
and move them off of the pages or they can get very very bloated with code.

From your code:

<style>
<!--
p
{margin-right:0in;
margin-left:0in;
font-size:12.0pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman";
}
-->
</style>

Dear Rob:
I have the same problem. Link buttons show up as hyperlinks on my site, I
deleted spaces, recalculated links, etc still have hyperlinks on a FrontPage
webserver but in FP program they are link buttons. What do I try next? Site
is www.lenapeprograms.info

Make sure you assigned the Style you want to the Horizontal navs and didn't
leave it on text.

btw, Page Transitions only work in IE....and they're annoying even when the
work.

You are specifying the Edge theme in your Nav bar styling. When
the nav-bar style is not the web default, then you must publish the
web to a server that has FP2002 extensions. Sometimes, you need to
open the web on the server and apply the nav-bar on the server. This
ensures that the theme and other images is correctly uploaded.

Last week I opened the web on the server and did that and I re-calculated the
the links too. It did not seem to do anything.

Help! I made sure there were no spaces, I applied the Nav bar styling to the
webpages on the server and I still have hyperlinks and not buttons. Now what
do I do?

R

Ronx

It appears that the theme files are loaded, but the buttons have not
been created (at least for the Home page, which is the only page I
looked for).
Open the online web in FrontPage, and use Tools->Recalculate
Hyperlinks

I tried your left border and applied it in a test web - I had no
problems creating the buttons on a Windows 2003 server, with pages
that had no theme applied.
