I have a Cricut cutting machine that will not work on this 64 Bit Vista and
will not recognize it through the USB.I have been to Provo craft and they
just say it will not work on 64 bit .When I bought this computer I kept
seeing 32 and 64 on it.. But it looks like it just has a 32 bit IE.
It will ding but it will not work.. The software installed great but when I
go to use it --it says cricut not connected I did a Boot with it on I did a
boot with it off.
But I was looking through my files and I saw windows system 32 Is there a
way to switch this computer to 32 bit to get my Cricut to work..
PLEASE tell me I can I will be so happy
A newbie to VISTA 2 weeks and still going

Hi Mary,

If they don't have 64-bit drivers for the hardware, then you will need to
load a fresh, clean install of 32-bit (x86). There's no way to convert from
one to the other. Contact the manufacturer about obtaining the correct media
if you do not already have it.

Incidentally, the system32 folder on 64-bit systems contains the 64-bit
versions of the system files. The 32-bit ones would be under syswow64.
Sounds sort of backwards, but that's what it is.

If the manufacturer (Provo Craft?) has declined to provide 64-bit
device drivers for their product (Cricut cutting machine), you won't be
able to get it to work with a 64-bit OS. This leaves you two choices:

1) Remove the 64-bit OS and purchase a 32-bit OS for the computer.

2) Purchase a new cutting machine from a company that does provide
device drivers for the OS you use and that provides decent after-sale
support for their products.
