Offline Folder Causing low disk space

Sunil

Hello All,
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
We are running offline synchronization on a few clients. Not everybody is
having this issue, but couple of them are running out of disk space on the
hard drive. When performing a disk cleanup, we see the most space used by
Offline Folders. The folder is only 7 GB, but the offline folder in the disk
cleanup is stating it is using 80 plus GB. I am guessing it is storing all
the "Previous versions" of this folder. Is there a way I can limit it? Or
atleast not have so many previous versions?

Thanks in advance

Sunil

Hello Andrew,
Thanks for getting back to me.
This would just do the disk cleanup, which is what we have to do anyway
right now. This buildup does not happen to all the laptops. Just a few. Is
there a way to reduce the size of the offline folders without doing cleanup
all the time. The folder that we want offline is only 7GB, but when the
offline sync occurs, it ends up being 84 GB in this one person's case. Any
idea why this happens?

Thanks

Sunil

You can set the maximum offline cache size in Group Policies. In the
case of the out of control offline cache for the couple of problem
laptops I would reinitializing the cache. Synchronize the files with
the server before you reinitialize the cache, reinitializing deletes all
the offline files and resets the CSC database.

Sounds like you might have a user who isn't limiting the depth of the
download and he's pulling in an entire, large web site instead of the
area he's interested in. A lot of people make the mistake.
