Offline Files - CSC Corruption

K

Hi,

Does anyone know how many subfolders Windows XP can process using offline
files and folders. We often get problems where a user has a folder offline
and then the CSC becomes corrupt, the message "Parameter is Incorrect" and
the CSC has to be reset.

This has happened today for the second time in a row for the user. I checked
the folder he has offline and it contains 193 subfolders. I have previously
posted a message on the forum before about CSC corruption and no one knew the
answer. I spoke to the Infrastructure Manager and he suggests that this may
be due to the amount of sub-folders XP has to process.

Please can someone advise.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

While I don't have a specific answer, I can only say that on every
network I admin where OF are used, we are replacing it with other
methods, as the reliability of OF is questionable in some situations,
especially users with thousands of files.

We have tried various programs and each has its benefits. We are
pushing out the Desktop Agent in Symantec Backup for the larger networks.
