I had one user with a xp sp2 laptop that was using offline files, that was
getting an error message every time he logged in. A little offline bubble
would come up and say something about the offline folders were unable to be
synchronized. Problem was the folders that it was pointing to existed on a
server that was no longer on the network. Thus some how that location was
cached somewhere.
Disabling and Re-enabling Offline folders didn't work.
Using the "delete files" feature from the offline files property page didn't
work.
Clearing the internet cookies, recently accessed files, etc. didn't work.
Nothing I saw mentioned in the newsgroup would get rid of that little bugger
that popped every time the user logged on. With the number of folks that
appear to have this problem, it seems that it's a bug in the offline folders
functionality. Anyway, I read about a csc folder located in c:\windows.
This appears to be where all the offline folders/files reside.
In order to resolved the issue, I did the following... disabled offline
folders
renamed the csc folder
rebooted
enabled offline folders
rebooted and windows automatically recreated the csc folder... minus the
pesky offline bubble popping up at every start.
This is the only way I could find to resolve the issue.
Good Luck!
