Office/Outlook 2003 - Sending web page by email issue

This is the first time I've gotten involved with Office 2003. I've
used Office 2000 and XP (2002) for quite some time and have not had
this issue come up before. I am currently using Windows XP Pro Tablet
PC and MS Office 2003 Student and Teacher version (currently the 60 day
trial but am planning on buying the full software soon), all with what
I assume to be the latest updates. I also use IE 7 (final release).

My issue is I've discovered that now I can't send web pages by email
(embedded into the message, that is) as I've always done in the past.
My web and email practices are very specific, limited, careful and
generally without problems. I understand that sending a web page by
embedding it into an email isn't the smartest thing to do for a lot of
folks, but such has been the norm for me and those I communicate with
on a frequent basis. So, it's an important feature I must have.

When I click "Page" (or "File") then "Send Page by mail" the message
SHOWS the page embedded into the message but when the recipient gets
generally a blank message with normal headers, etc. and the page itself
comes in attachments rather than embedded as desired. Sending a page's
link by email works fine. Also HTML-formatted messages with drawings
and pics embedded seem to go through okay.

I have tooled with settings here and there to no avail. I have made
sure that MS Word is my default email editor, default associated
programs for IE include Outlook and Word, firewall settings are
appropriate, and the default format for email is HTML. Believe me, I
have combed through the settings in just about everywhere I look on my
machine but I can't seem to find the answer.

QUESTIONS:

1) Is this a bug?
2) If not a bug, is this an intended feature of MS Office 2003 STUDENT
& TEACHER (as opposed to "Basic", "Professional", etc. versions)?
3) Are there any real solutions to this, not just work-arounds I've
seen posted everywhere (some of which are really bulky, multi-step
processes).

Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

I am having the same problem at my office. I normally send myself
articles to my home email that relate to my work, for later reading.
Sometimes, I send the link, sometimes I send the web page. For the
last couple of weeks, though, Microsoft Outlook 2003 has been giving me
the message "The Operation Failed".

I can find nothing in the documentation for Outlook (SP2) or for IE
(version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) on this topic.

Anyone who can advise mtnmedic and myself why this is happening and how
we can correct it....we'll both be very appreciative.

Thanks!

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? This past week, I have been
experiencing the exact same annoying problem from my pc at home.

I should have been more specific. My problem is exactly the same as that of
jimh157. A message that says the operation failed when trying to send a link
or a page by e-mail. Anybody have a clue ?

I am having the same problem ... the message The Operation Failed when I try
to Send a web page or a picture from MY Pictures file... Did anyone ever
come up with a solution? Grandmanne
