Office/Outlook 2003 error with scanning device

I installed Office 2003 and keep receiving the following: "An error occurred
conmmunicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning
device is connected properly and try again." I don't have a scanning device.
I can scan with my printer but I don't always have printer turned on. Is
that what is causing the error?

Hi,

Open Control Panel and then run the Scanners and Cameras applet (icon). You
may see you scanning device listed there.
Deleting it there will probably not get rid of it - (you can try).

Or install the scanning software that came with your printer. It should be
mostly harmless.

Or, in Control Panel / System / Hardware (tab) / Device Manager (button)
find the "Imaging devices" right click on whatever is there and select
"Disable".
