Office error on XP

I have several PCs with WinXP, and one of them has Office
2000 (the rest have office XP). No matter what I do on
this PC (open File explorer, do a search, almost anything
really) a window pops up constantly that says Please Wait
While WIndows Configures Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
Then an error pops up that says Error 1706 No Valid source
could be found for product Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
The Windows installer cannot continue. I click OK, then
Cancel, and it just pops up again. I pretty much have to
reboot to get it to stop. Stupid.
THis sucks because it just gets in the way. Office is
already on there, it works, and I no longer have the disk
for it. Why is it doing this and how can I make it stop?

This is probably caused by the selections made when Office was installed. I
can't remember the exact wording, but during a custom install, you have the
option of installing a component, not installing, etc. One option is to
install a component when you run an Office program for the first time. This
is possibly the case, and it's looking for the install medium. Check technet
or the knowledge base; to fix this might require a modification of the
registry.
