office 2000 thinks it's "premium", cant disable Windows Installer

Hello there.

I appreciate your reading this.

Anytime i open a word, exel, or any office doc., anytime i open the programs
exe. directly, and anytime i choose any option in Outlook, the Windows
Installer pop-up box prompts me to install Windows Office Premium 2000 from
the CD that i don't have. I have to cancel it 4 times before it won't pop-up
anymore.

It seems that the Office 2000 that came installed with my computer and XP,
somehow has become real messed up. In the “add/remove programs†screen it
now appears as Microsoft Office 2000 Premium. The shortcuts to the programs
all say the version is “2000 Premium†but it wont let me “find target

Any advice on how i can disable this and get back to my plain old Office 2000?

THANKS! (>:

Andy

You've likely triggered a call to an Office component that isn't
installed. Office is attempting to run the installer to update 2000
for the "First Run" option.
Have you installed any other Office product ?, Front Page etc ?
Each Office Suite level (Standard, Professional) have their own
..msi installer. That's why you are being prompted to insert the
disk. Sometimes adding Publisher can switch the installer to the
ProPlus.msi or the Premium level.
Not easy to fix - Unless you have the install media. Each app has
a "Detect & Repair" option under Help, but I doubt if that would
work without the Office cabinets or a CD-ROM.
