I have tried to install a Office 97 Professional edition
on to my new laptop. I continue to get the message that
the version I am using is an upgrade and needs an older
version on the system to install. This is not the case
since the Office 97 is the full version. All I need off
this disc is Powerpoint since I have Office xp installed.

I have previously used this with xp. What is the problem?

Doug

It's an upgrade edition of Office97 and is looking for Office95 already on
the hard drive or the CD of Office95. If it wasn't an upgrade edition, you
wouldn't get that message.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact you have Office XP installed and
you are trying to install an Office 97 component (Powerpoint). Why don't
you install Powerpoint from your Office XP CD (assuming it's on it)?
