I've been running into this problem on a laptop running xp sp2. Office
97.

symptom When you start any MS office apps, they open and the close, all
in less than a second.

If you view the process in task manager/applications...I may see the
app flash by or I see sysfader flash by.

So far I have run:

Adaware, Spybot and Microsofts new antispyware.

I have done a full system scan with our enterprise NAI v8 VirusScan as
well as Trend Micros web based scan and Stinger from NAI.

all come up negative.

I have unistalled and reinstalled Office using add/remove as well as a
script file we built to completely uninstall all office components and
still after reinstall the problem remains.

I have reimaged the machine and still the problem remains.

Any suggestions?

hmm? I think ud get better support on a MS help message board. only
thing i can think of is get the office service packs or just upgrade to
office XP or 2003

I had a client that had a similar problem. However, she was also having problems with Internet Explorer and a few other applications. If you are using Outlook 2003, but have Office 97 for your other products; you will need to use the regular Office Update site to update Outlook 2003.

If you are only running Office 97 products and not mixing versions, then you may want to try updating your office products. Office Update does not support Office 97, so you will need to manually download and apply the updates.

Good luck,
