I am about to purchase a new computer that comes with Vista and office 2007.
My questions are:

Can 2007 convert my acess files created using Office 2000? (please say yes!)
Do I need to do anything special when copying the files from my old computer
to my new computer?
Are there any other Office issues I need to worry about in this transition?

This is an XP OS newsgroup. You should ask questions about Office apps in a
newsgroup for that app, and there are newsgroups for Vista if you have
questions about that later.

Here is a list of MS public newsgroups.
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

On the Web
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx

For Access look at, well, the newsgroups under microsoft.public.access.

Vista newsgroups are under microsoft.public.windows.vista

Your questions have nothing to do with WinXP. Repost (via Newsreader) to

Your question about office doesn't really belong here in a Windows
newsgroup, but since I'm replying anyway, I'll answer quickly: Yes,
Office 2000 can read and convert your Access 2000 files. However, you
should always be aware that whenever you do such a conversion, there
is always at least *some* risk that not everything will be converted
perfectly.

Note that I'm not aware of any such problems in this case, and I doubt
very much that there are any major problem here; I just want you to be
aware of the possibility of one.

Please consiter this thread closed. I have received an answer to my question
along with a number of reprimend because I accidently posted it in the wrong
group. Sorry about that. I will attempt to be much more careful in the
future.

Thanks to everyone who has responded.

Long Shadows - It is most likely that the Office 2007 installation will a
"Trail" copy meaning a limited time period use - evaluate the program with
data (or copies of the Accesss atat) you can afford to lose.

not to worry, the virtual spankings only last a never while.

I think you seriously mistake the intent of those who told you it was
the wrong newsgroup. Their messages weren't reprimands, but attempts
to help you. You are far more likely to get the help you need if you
post your question to the correct newsgroup, and someone who points
that out is not reprimanding you, but trying to help by pointing you
in the right direction.

It's as if you stop your car and ask someone how to get to Chicago. If
he says "I don't know, but ask Sam over there; he knows," that's not a
reprimand, it's an attempt to help.

Thanks Ken. I rarely if ever flame anyone. However, when I do there is doubt
cast.
