Office 2003 Word and Outlook "shut down" error

Help! I downloaded an Adobe update and since that point I'm having problem
with Word and Outlook. It doesn't matter which of them I'm using they will
"shut down" and throw out what I'm doing. This is the error message I get
"Microsoft Office Word encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience." The do offer a "recover" but this is happening
40-50 times a day! HELP! FYI ... it seems when I'm in the programs I cannot
slow down or stop typing or the error will happen ~ I can't stop to look for
information, print, etc without it occuring. Any advice you might have on
how to fix this would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you.

You should really be posting in one of the Office groups. have you
uninstalled the update to try to fix the problem?

Can you point me toward the Office groups? I thought maybe this was a system
error. I did uninstall the update, but it didn't help.

1. Make sure all Office updates/service packs are installed.
2. What version of Office?
3. Open word, click on Help>Detect and Repair.

Hi Mick,

All updates/service packs have been installed. I also did the
detect/repair, but Word is still closing down. I have Windows XP, using
Office Professional 2003. I have also posted this inquiry on the Office
newsgroups, but have received NO replies. If you know of something further I
can try to fix this it would be GREATLY appreciated.
