Office 2003 (frontpage 2003) Tutorials

Jeffrey Hall

I am looking at 2 cd-rom based tutorials on Office 2003 and Frontpage 2003.
Its between a program called PC Tutor and Professor Teaches. I like
Professor Teaches because it has more on Web design (Flash, Frontpage,
Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Web Design Fundamentals, HTML Fundamentals, and HTML
Advanced.) My goal is to become proficient in Office and Frontpage and
integrate office for the purpose of creating web pages. I like PC Tutor
because it says its Microsoft Specialist Certified. Any input?

If you are planning on building web sites for the internet, avoid trying to integrate the Office
Applications with FP to create a web site. Also FP has some features that you will need to avoid, if
you want all browser users to be able view your site in the same way.

If you will be building web sites in a corporate intranet, where there is control over the browser
being used (meaning all users will be using IE) then you can look into integrating Office
Applications.

Basic items/functions to avoid, in any version of FP:

1. The drawing tools, Java applets (hover buttons and banner ad manager).

2. Avoid working within the site folder via Windows Explorer or any other application.

3. Do not use FTP to upload content to a server that has the FP Extensions, unless you understand
the impact of doing so.

Things you should do:

1. Always open a site before working on your content (File Menu | Open Site).

2. Always import all external content (images, files for download, etc.) into the current open site
before using (File Menu | Import or drag-n-drop)

3. Get a web host that support the FP 2002 extensions, and try to avoid the free/low cost hosting
services, if planning to building a commercial/business web site.

4. Get a Window IIS web host, if you think you will want to work with Access and ASP or ASP.net.

5. Visit here often and ask questions, but be sure to provide as much detail as possible, and when
possible publish your work where you can then provide a URL so that we can see what you are trying
to accomplish or having problems with, etc.

meaning "NO" pops up.
I am signed in, why cant i submit my own question.

Assuming your post refers to the Microsoft Communities, either (best way, in
my opinion) use a newsreader to view/use the newsgroup,
or allow popups on the site.
This link will open this group in your default newsreader.
