only if you use old format psts - Outlook 2003 supports a new pst file
format called Unicode and you can't open them in Outlook 2002 or older.

I found these instructions for Mac1's problem:
Within OL2003, File/New Data File....in prev format
Copy/Move email etc from 2003pst to the new pst

I am also having this problem, but when I re-installed XP after 2003 trial
expired, neither Outlook would open. I allowed the error message to be sent
to Microsoft and got the response that Outlook XP and 2003 cannot be on same
machine, so I uninstalled Office 2003. Now I realize that was not a great
idea, since I can't use Outlook 2003 to convert the *.pst files to the format
Outlook XP can use . . . Any suggestions? thanks!

you'll need to reinstall outlook to convert the pst - or open the pst on a
computer that has it installed.
