office 2002 software lost all docs converted to wordpad

I lost my office 2002 programs (it continues to appear in syatem software)
yet i can't access it. All documents (word, excel, etc.) were converted to
wordpad. I do not have the original software disks (misplaced in move). Can
anyone help or explain?
