I know this is off topic here but there is no Norton NG and there a lot of
smart people here.

Does anyone know the name of the Norton Anti-Virus file that holds the
setup, exceptions, block rules that I manually enter? I would like to
include this file when I do a backup.

Thanks.

Norton AV does not have exceptions or block rules. You must be talking
about Norton Internet Security.

What makes you think the settings are not properly backed up?

Yes I do have exceptions and block rules in my copy of Norton AV 2005.

Well, if my HD crashed the files are on it. I want to back it (them) up off
of the HD.

Again, what makes you think the rules/exceptions are not being backed
up?

Well if they ARE being backed up where are they being backed up to? They
certainly are not being backed up to my ZIP drive where I want them.

Are you backing up the System State information? Are you doing a FULL
backup or are you excluding some files/folders?

So, lets be clear, if you backup the entire machine are you saying your
settings are not backed up?

I am not doing a 100% system backup. I am only backing up preference files
and data files. I have program files on the disks they came on when I
purchased the program. Backing up program files would be a waste of time
and space.

The settings you want may be in the "System State" or in the Registry,
or they may be in a location you are not backing up. In most cases,
unless you do a full backup you are highly likely to miss important
application settings.

You will have the same issues with MS Office applications, Adobe
Photoshop application, etc...
