Off topic: Anyone know this => shortcut NF Timer.lnk

JD

OS is Win2k.

"Problem with shortcut" shows on the pop-up. The
message:

"The drive or network connection that the shortcut
NF Timer.lnk refers to is unavailable.......
Make sure that the disk is properly inserted....."

Does anyone know what this refers to? It started
in my computer about 2 weeks ago.

TIA

Happend to me yesterday, a root virus had
wiped out Firefox, and the shortcut started complaining.
Then the virusscanner wiped out the OS, which failed to
boot normally and in safe mode.

No Frills Timer (keeps track of the amount of time you spend connected to the Internet)

It can be placed in the Startup folder, so it runs at system
startup. If the shortcut was left in the folder, and the
body of the program was removed, that might be the reason
the system has attempted to evaluate "NF Timer.lnk" shortcut
and failed.

A shortcut evaluates to some other file, and if that file is missing,
then the shortcut is no longer valid.

Thank you very much Paul.

You were right on the button :) It was there in
the startup.

Have a great weekend :)
