Since installing NIS 2005, Outlook Express has great difficulty in
downloading and sending email; it'll do it once (slowly) on opening OE6 but
subsequent attempts result in the standard "Your POP3 server has not
responded in 60 seconds" etc etc. I have to turn off and reboot and then it
works again ok - once, and then it starts all over again. I've uninstalled
and reinstalled NIS2005 and the problem returns. Firewall settings all SEEM
to be ok....Please help!!

NIS/NAV should have an Email/Advanced option to "Avoid"
Mail server timeouts. Make sure that it is checked on your PC.
Also, the default Server timeout in OE value may not be enough
to allow Nis/Nav to hook-in. Try extending the Server timeout
value up to 45 seconds.

Thank you! I will try immediately!

As I have the same problem,
how did you solve it?
Thanks

I didn't ever manage to solve it - it appeared to be a combination of
"ccapp.exe" - a component of NIS causing some kind of problem - if you look
all over the internet there are THOUSANDS of pages detailing probs with this
component - and the fact that the email scanning within NIS seems to be the
main cause - it shoves the CPU usage right up to 100% whenever it scans
emails or even when it scans FOR emails - rendering everything else pretty
much useless!! I've come to the conclusion that NIS is like a leech, sucking
the blood out of everything it touches. I uninstalled (with GREAT difficulty)
NIS - took me 3 evenings to do it properly, and I am now using AVG antivirus
(free from the internet) and ZoneAlarm as my firewall. My computer seems
supersonically fast again and I shall never touch a Norton product ever again
in my life...! Hope that helps!
