XP SP2 and Norton Internet Security 2005

I finally got Norton Internet Security 2005 to install without error
messages. It appeared to be running beautifully. Then I installed SP2, and
now I can't even get on the internet with NIS enabled. (Kind of defeats the
purpose of installing a firewall, wouldn't you say?) At any rate, I read
through Symantec's Knowledge Base and did everything their article suggested,
short of their last suggestion -- to uninstall Norton and reinstall it.
Jeez, I do not want to go through that again! I'm almost to the point where
if I have to uninstall Norton again, I'll just scrap it and go back to the
freebie that I was using before. If anyone has found a solution to this
problem, I'd love to hear what you did that worked.

.
Run liveupdate. Twice.
See if that doesn't solve it.
Uninstall, reinstall if that doesn't work. Follow
Symantec's uninstall instructions.

Grrrr . . . . I didn't want to do that. I've already run LiveUpdate many
times. Is there actually a human being out there who is operating
problem-free with both SP2 and Norton Internet Security 2005?
