XP SP2 and Norton Internet Security 2005 - desktop hangs on wallpaper

J

Jimmy

Greetings,

I have an Athlon XP 2800+ machine with 512mb ram...
Tonight, I decided to put in my windows xp service pack 2 cd and upgrade my
windows xp pro sp1 to sp2....
I've had Norton Internet Security 2005 running great, but after i installed
service pack 2 for xp, whenever i log into windows xp, it displays the
welcome screen, and then displays my desktop wallpaper with mouse cursor and
nothing else for around 1-2 minutes....

I decide to uninstall NIS2005 (Norton Internet Security 2005) and this stops
this desktop/wallpaper hang, and then re-install and then the problem starts
again after every boot/restart.

Is there a way to prevent this desktop/wallpaper hang after logon to windows
xp? Its very frustrating...

Yes don't use NIS. Seriously. Both Zone Alarm and AVG are free. Don't see
why you're posting here anyway. This has nothing whatsoever to do with
Windows XP or MS. You're having an issue with an Symantec product, so talk
to them.
