Windows XP OE6 News Error code

OE6 Cannot access news server. Mail OK. Error message - Configuration:
Account: news.ntlworld.com
Server: news.ntlworld.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0e
Removed news settings and and reset - no change. Disabled Zonealarm and Norton mail - no change. Suggestions welcomed

Have you disabled Windos Firewall aswell, Maybe thats what not letting you connect to this news group..

Also if your router has a firewall, check that its allowing NTLworld through..

Thxs for suggestions. No router and windows firewall is always disabled. When I reported loss to ntl support last Thurs I was told the server was down - try again tomorrow but it hasn't worked since.

NTL does it again. Indian support insisted server OK. I inisisted that he rechecks, he says he must consult his level2 supervisor. Answer - the news server address has changed to news.virginmedia.com. Now all OK. I suppose the next thing to change without warning will be email address!!
