OE Problem

OE says the message is no longer available on the server. It then
displays
them as items in the Inbox, but with a line drawn through each of them.

Does anyone know why this would happen, and how to correct the problem?

You can't correct it. It means the message is no longer available on the
nntp server. Try looking for it in Google groups, they seem to cache them
for eternity.

I agree with Rob. I no longer use OE but I do remember having to manually
mark those posts as "read" to remove their unread message status.

If this is in the Inbox I have no idea. Is it a POP3, IMAP or HTTP account?

If it's in a news folder you have downloaded the headers before the messages
was deleted. Go to another folder and come back.
