Subject: Newsgroup messages JUMP! Please help.....

I have a new HP with W-XP home and use OE-6 for getting basic Usenet's
Newsgroups
(through my ISP). The problem is as I read the messages, especially those
over 4 kb they will not stay in place as we scroll down. They JUMP back to
the top of the message, making me lose my place - which I have to scroll
down to find - just to have the message JUMP back to the top of the post.
It's very irritating and time-wasting to have to keep scrolling down to find
my place again. I've been online now since 1996 and have never had this
happen on our older computers (with W95 and W98SE). Is there any way to
stop this irritating behavior of returning to the top of posts over and over
as I'm trying to read them? This sometimes also happens on webpages
(IE6). The screen suddenly is back at the TOP of the webpage making us lose
our place on the page.

Thanks.....

You're optical mouse is misbehaving. Give it a clean, even-colored
mousepad, even if the mouse doesn't need it for getting a grip.

This happens when OE refreshes the newsgroup. The only way I know to
prevent it is to Work Offline while reading long messages. You do not need
to disconnect to Work Offline.

I'll try that. I have a solid color one I'll switch with.
Thanks....

## That can't be the cause because it never happened before. We have the 3
other PCs (W98SEs) and none of them do it when we read the NGs. All have
OE6 for the mail and news.
That would be a real pain in the ass to do every time we downloaded a
message - hitting the "work offline" then go back and hit "work online"...
just to go back and hit "work offline" again.... hundreds of times to get
through the NGs each day. There has to be some other reason it's "jumping"
since it didn't at first, and the 3 other PCs aren't doing it.

Does it do it on *every* message on which you have to scroll?
I'd go with the refresh theory as i used to experience similar symptoms.
Change the setting in options for "check for new messages every n"

YES!!! YES!! That worked. See my other post as of last night. I thought
of that after reading his post, looked and somehow that box *was* checked.
After unchecking it last night the problem vanished! :))) Something so
simple caused so much aggravation and frustration!
