My IE6 (all updates) no longer opens when a link is clicked in OE.

I've followed all the steps in KB281689 to no avail. Tried a Repair of IE,
but in Control Panel | Add Remove Programs it does not list Internet
Explorer under "I" nor "ME" for Microsoft ... the only IE entry is Q832894

When I tried the "sfc /scannow" it asks for the CD to be inserted for Win XP
Prof SP2 - I put in the original XP Prof SP1 CD and it just keeps saying
wrong CD - presumably because of the updates religiously applied????? IE6
shows as being SP2; Win XP shows SP1

Any ideas??? (Haven't tried a System Restore yet - dunno when to take it
back to)

XP Prof all critical updates; IE ver 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633; OE ver
6.00.2800.1123

TIA

Spell-check got at it - last line should read
Explorer under "I" nor "M" for Microsoft ... the only IE entry is Q832894

Hyperlinks don't open:

http://www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx or:

http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm or:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q177054

Also, if you have a link open via OE, but minimized, it sometimes will not
open a second.

If hyperlinks are not working in Outlook or other Office applications:

1.. Start the Internet Explorer
2.. Select Tools / Internet Options
3.. Click on Programs tab
4.. Make sure that Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the
default browser is enabled
5.. Click Reset Web Settings.
6.. Click Start / Run / regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Hi,

Close Internet Explorer and Outlook Express if either are open.

Start/run "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" (without the quotes)

Control panel/Internet options/programs tab, click on "reset all web
settings"

Reopen and retry the links in Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.

That was the one. Thanks Bob & Rick & Bruce for your responses.

Dunno how it changed - maybe the haiku message holds the answer:

"Yesterday it worked;
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that"

:-)
