odd problem with open in new window

I have come up with a rather odd problem with IE6 on XP
pro SP1a.

If I use IE6 I can not open any linked pages from any
website that request IE to "open in a new window" if I
right click I can manually open in a new window, but if I
click the link, the taskbar shows a new windows opening,
then I get the "error" sound and the window closes.

The odd thing is that if I open a web page by typing in
the address in the "my computer" address line and
use "windows explorer" to view a web page everything
works.

I have no pop-up blockers running, I ran "sfc /scannow"
with no errors, my Anti-Virus software reports no
viruses, I also ran:

regsvr32 msjava.dll
regsvr32 shell32.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll

And still have the problem.

Any Ideas?????

Try replacing OLEAUT32.dll Sometimes that will work when all else has
failed. Not sure why. You can use sfc to do that.

Thanks a bunch! I had been working for the last two days
on my window problem and your post fixed it.
I am not sure which regsvr line it was. I tried them all.

But it is good to hear back from someone who has had success. I hope Marc
