Odd Issue

S

Steve Glowacka

I have a WIN2K Pro machine that logs in to an NT 4.0
Server. All was working fine and the "out of the blue" the
other day the user could no longer log in with
her 'current' pswd. She had to use 1 that was 1 level
back. I could log on that terminal using my current domain
admin acct & pswd and all was well. System logs showed
nothing. I went to another PC on the network and could log
in just fine with the same user ID that had a problem on
machine 1. The issue seems to be the machine but I don't
see why. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure, I assume you rebooted. Do you have multiple DC's? If you did, then
you might be talking to 2 different dc and you could see this behavior. You
can login and then goto a cmd prompt and do a SET L to find our what
LogonServer you are authenticated to. Then you might want to check if they
are in sync (assuming you have more then 1 dc).

If you only have 1 dc, take the W2K Pro client and re-join it to the domain.
This is just a double checking step, and really shouldn't have anything to
do with anything. If you only have 1 DC, than that is truly puzzling.
