This appears to be the closest to a current IE discussion group. If I am
wrong, please let me know where that may be! I've recently been randomly
getting a www.domain.com.com in the address bar while trying to reach well
know sites. For instance, tonight it is happening with www.news.com. I
type news.com into the address bar and it takes me to the page but the
address changes to www.news.com.com in the address bar. At times, the site
that shows up is either a different one, or like tonight an older version of
the same site (from Sept 19, 2003 at news.com tonight).
What makes this even more odd, a friend of mine 6000 miles away checked for
me and had the same exprerience tonight, which either means teh bug is very
wide spread or it's Internet based. The only thing I could find while
googling for an answer is urls that had been indexed by Google the very same
way, ie. news.com.com, zdnet.com.com, download.com.com, etc. Check for
yourself http://tinyurl.com/tv9s.
Does anyone know what this is? If I missed somethign obvious, then I really
missed it. I've been searching all over. Thanks!
