Tried installing Britannica Encyclopedia 2002 to XP Home SP2 . All goes
well until it registers components, then an error messages comes up
saying it could not register Macromedia's SWFLASH.OCX.

Can someone please tell me why this may be occurring? All web flash
content runs fine!
Also, can someone please give me the syntax for manually registering a
component?

TIA

Perhaps that rather old program is hard-coded to use an obsolete version
of Flash. The best way to find out would be to contact the program's
tech support or look on their tech support website if they have one for
known issues.

Hi Malke,

Yeah, guess I should have mentioned in the post that Britannica no
longer supports 2002 version and will not accept tech support calls on
that version.

Do you know how to manually register a component? I've seen it listed
many times on NG's but never remembered it. Think it's ... rundll32.exe
?????

It's

regsvr32 (module name)

append "/U" to un-register the module
