Occasional Sound

I am having a very odd problem with the sound on my computer. When I am on
AOL occasionally the sound just stops. This only happens about once a week.
Sound will be fine then suddenly nothing; no Windows sounds, no internet
sounds, nothing from games or CDs. You can see that things are playing but
no sound issues forth. My sound device still shows and all the drivers are
correct, signed and up to date. This problem goes away when I shut
everything down and reboot my system but that gets old. Any ideas?
 
Make sure all audio connections are snug (audio jack at computer, power plug
and jack at speakers). Does the sound stop working only in AOL?
