O/L 2K - Some Recipients receive attachments as .dat files

R

Using WinXp Pro (not upgraded to SP2) & Outlook 2000

Some recipients report that attachments (doc, xls, jpg etc) are being
received as .dat files and are unable to read them.

I have tried using plain text and HTML in addition to rich text formats. I
even tried using UUencoding instead of MIME but still get the same
complaints. Behaves the same whether I generate a new mail or forward one
received from others.

When I add the attachment to an e-mail from one of the complaining
recipients and "Reply To" , they receive the attachment in the proper
format.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

You need plain text or HTML, *not* Rich Text. Do you have these recipients
in your contacts folder(s)? If so, change the properties for them to force
plain text and test again.
