NVIDIA Card switch fiasco

I bought a new GeForce2 MX 400 for a system I am putting together. There
were problems so in order to test the video card I installed it into my
existing main system which has a GeForce4 MX 440 on it. This system runs
Windows XP Pro.
It came up fine, so I switched the card back to the MX 440. It would not
work. It shows the Windows XP splash screen and then goes away to black
screen never to return. How can I get my Win XP computer to work with the
previous card again?

Never Mind I Fixed It

Procedure:
1. During endless period of black screen, push reset button.
2. Press F8
3. Enter VGA mode
4. Reinstall video drivers
5. Reboot.
6. Learn that XP should be able to do this for itself automatically.
