Num Lock Light

this has to be the strangest thing ever, when i shutdown my PC i have recently noticed that the num lock light stays on :confused:, if i unplug the keyboard and plug it back in all three lights flash then go out, anyone got any ideas ?

this is on my new PC, mobo is an Asus A8N-SLI Premium

Is it USB, if so then some motherboards when switched off still output +5vdc to the USB Bus, my VoIP phone stays lit up, so does my mouse receiver etc...

Aye some do, I think its a residual charge left in the motherboard

Nothing to worry about, ive had the same problem myself years ago

I have no real answer, but I would not un-plug and re-plug it back in the PC ... turn off at the mains plug.

Try another keyboard to see if it still happens ... you do have a cheapo spare?

A PC does NOT power off and is "live" while still plugged in to the mains ... ;)

well if its just residual charge then it makes sense

and mucks i wont do it again, i'll try it with out other keyboard later and see what happens

after some playing with different keyboards i have found they all do it and the only soution i have found is to turn num lock off before shutting down
