null seesion shares

Randy

Hello,

I am creating a service that needs to have access to a folder on another
box on the network. This could be on a domain with any mix of xp pro,
win2K, win2K server, win2003 server.

I would like to avoid having to specify the service to run under a
specific network user account because of the extra hassel involved in
creating the user and making the service run under that account.

I understand that the local system account has access to the network,
but only via what is accessible through the null seesion.

So how do I create a share that is accessable via a null seesion on
winxp, win2k and win2003?

Thanks

Randy

It really does not take that long to create an account to use for a service
and it just needs the user right to logon as a service as found in Local
Security Policy. I have not set up a null share myself . If you look in
Local Security Policy of a Windows 2003/XP Pro computer you will see a
security option where you can specify shares that can be accessed
anonymously. That may or may not help but would be worth looking into if you
want to go that route. --- Steve
