ntvdm.exe problem

Several times a day I am booted out of various running
programs by WinXP Pro v5.1 by the following message:

"NTVDM.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Please tell Microsoft."

I do not have any video games on my computer, that I know
of.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Close all running programs. Locate ntvdm.exe in the \Windows\System32 folder
and delete it (it's probably corrupt). Reboot the system. See if the problem
goes away, as the file will be replaced by one from the system cache (System
File Protection at work).
