ntvdm.exe

I have had the installation of several downloads stopped
with the message: 'NTVDM.exe has encountered a problem and
needs to close'. How do I 'repair' NTVDM.exe, if this is
what is required? Thanks

Thanks, Chuck. I'm afraid that's beyond my technical level.

I don't think it's what is happening anyway. The last prog to do it was AVG free virus checker from Downloads.com. So it should have been straightforward as 1000's of other users will have used it OK. Any other advice

Hi Duncan,

Close all running programs. Locate ntvdm.exe in the \Windows\System32 folder
and delete it (it's probably corrupt). Reboot the system. See if the problem
goes away, as the file will be replaced by one from the system cache (System
File Protection at work).
